When you talk about Pakistan cricket, one man outshines everyone. He is none other than Shahid Afridi, the one the only!
Through the ever lasting turmoil of Pakistan cricket, the brilliance and class of the Afridi has led Pakistan to glory and success again and again. The highlight of Afridi's career is undoubtedly helping Pakistan to Twenty 20 world cup glory in 2009. Apart from this Afridi holds a numer of international world records.
BOOM BOOM as he is popularly known, has become somewhat of a brand name. From a simple identity it has evolved into a brand of its own and is looking to head for better things in the future.
- Test Debut v Australia at Karachi - October 1998
- ODI Debut v Kenya at Colombo (SSC) - March 1996
- He was brought into international cricket as a 16-year-old leg-spinner and struck the fastest one-day hundred in his maiden innings off only 37 balls.
- His reputation for the unexpected made him unable to command a regular position in the Pakistan team until Bob Woolmer took over as coach.
- In early 2005, he hit the joint second fastest Test half-century at Bangalore and took crucial last day wickets, in helping Pakistan memorably level the Test series.
- He currently has the best strike rate in ODIs, and also the record for most number of 6s in ODIs.
For over a decade now Afridi has been weaving his magic in the world of cricket. What needs to be done is that more people need to step up and take centre stage. This will in turn lead to a better and brighter future.
Boom Boom Afridi needs to be translated into BOOM BOOM PAKISTAN and i hope the inspiration of one man can help Pakistan to establish itself on a global stage.
LONG LIVE PAKISTAN........Pakistan zindabad!!!
