There is more to Pakistan than terrorism and corruption!

Everyone these days have a very negative image about Pakistan. Let me share my personal experience with everyone. I was going back to my school in Pennsylvania, USA from Saudi Arabia. I had to wait for three hours in Detroit Airport. I did not know what to do in the airport for 3 hours. What I decided to do is to roam around the airport since, it was a very beautiful airport. I was going through the duty free shops in the airport. I was buying some snacks to eat. Suddenly, what I came across was the most shocking thing I have ever read in my entire life, “#1 dangerous country in the world- Pakistan”.  I could not believe my eyes that what I have read.

Everyone in the world associates Pakistan for being the most dangerous, terrorized and corrupted country in the world. Though, it is not true at all because this is all what the media has to say about Pakistan. Media hardly shares positivity related to Pakistan. THERE IS MORE TO PAKISTAN THAN TERRORISM AND CORRUPTION.

This post will share some very interesting and not-knowing facts about Pakistan. Pakistan is, no doubt, a beautiful country. But, currently, what is happening in Pakistan hides the beautiful facts about Pakistan. Let’s have a look at what this country has got other than terrorism and corruption.

     1)   The biggest glaciers in Pakistan: The north of Pakistan boasts undoubtedly the worlds most stunning mountain scenery. Forget about those touristy Himalayan trials in Nepal, if you are looking for real wild mountain beauty, then Northern Areas are the place to go. The extreme northeastern part of Pakistan is dominated by the craggy Karakorums, whose glaciers are the worlds biggest permanent mass of snow and ice outside the poles.

     2)   World’s biggest mountain face in Pakistan: Nanga Parbat is a sight to behold. It towers above the surrounding terrain like a brooding giant. Its south face, known as Rupal Faceis the worlds biggest mountain face, rising unbroken for 4600 meters from its base. If one considers the peak to base distance, the north face of Nanga Parbat forms the worlds deepest gorge, plunging almost 7000 meters to the Indus River.

     3)   World’s tallest cliff in Pakistan: Trango Towers are amongst the many jewels encountered during the epic trek to K2. Standing tall like guardians of the great glaciers, the biggest member of the group, the Grand Trango, features the worlds greatest nearly vertical drop; nearly 1340 meters. They also offer some of the most technical rock climbing and extreme BASE-jumping opportunities.

     4)   World’s largest mosque in Pakistan: The Shah Faisal Mosque in Islamabad can accommodate almost 100000 worshipers. Completed in 1976, it could at that time probably hold the citys entire population. Built with Saudi donations, was named for its King and designed like a desert tent.

     5)   The world’s biggest refugee population: Pakistans western neighbor Afghanistan has been in a perpetual state of war for generations. The Afghans however had largely learned to live with internal tribal conflicts and prejudices but the situation changed dramatically with the 1979 Soviet invasion. This coupled with non-existent border control resulted in more than 5 million refugees pouring into Pakistan. Although recent years have been some of the most peaceful of the past decades, around 1.8 million refugees still reside in Pakistan and its still hosting the worlds biggest such population.

     6)   World’s largest irrigation system: Pakistan has the worlds largest canal based irrigation system. Dependent exclusively on the Indus River and its tributaries, this network has also irrigated a population boom. The system was originally built by the British and was then expanded in 1960s but now has become a rusty, inefficient old machine.

This is just the beginning of the hidden facts about Pakistan. There are countless incredible and fascinating facts about Pakistan. Pakistan, currently, is just facing the most difficult times in its history. Once, it has stood up straight and high up in the air, no one can stop Pakistan from rising day by day.
